How many people would have chance to talk or even have connection with the icon in hospitality industry? Well, it was (notice I use past tense) one of my regret that we did not have chances or opportunities to visit JW Marriott, Marriott, or Ritz Carlton (or any hotel belongs to Marriott). Neither have chance to have direct connection to any people or managers who are from this gorgeous hotels group. However, today, yes, it is today (I have to write it down immediately), I could have chance to ask questions and listen to THE MARRIOTT FAMILY'S opinions and answers! After DDLS, I even occupied some times to talk with Mr. Harrison, who worked in Asia market before and is son in law of Mr. J.W Bill Marriott. 

Mr. J.W Bill Marriott Jr., CEO of Marriott and the 2nd generation of this wonderful hotels group, is the builder of Marriott group and the iconic person in this industry. He is so energetic, humble, humorous, and sincere to reply all the questions we asked.

Something I learned today -- others are also important but the most important thing I think is about people.
*Training is important! Teach your people before ask them do a job!
*Listen to your people.
*Ask right questions.
*Do not fire / blame people just because they makes some mistakes. Everyone would make mistakes.
*Ensure that people feel that they are included.
*The most important thing is people.
*Need people (Mr. J.W Bill Marriott Jr. mentioned F.O staffs) who do not afraid challenge their bosses and bosses have to encourage staffs to provide real feedback.
*Take care your employees as take care your customers. Once you treat your employees kind, they would treat your customers kind. (I think that's why Four Seasons' and InterContinental Hotel's employee cafes are so nice! Food is so important for staffs.)
* You could never make decision in office if you do not know what's going on!


Other things...
* equip yourself (technical -- operation, revenue management, finance / touch, broad educated)
* 修身齊家治國平天下!( said by Mr. Harrison in Mandarin! and then he explained in English, so amazing!) --> about HR
